The meeting with a commercial counsellor

On an afternoon in May, in 2014, at the International Airport of Uganda, I had a conversation with Mr. Ouyang Daobing (欧阳道冰), the Chinese commercial counsellor to Uganda, who was there to receive his daughter and nephew. He was quite sociable with a smiling face. After a short questioning about my purpose of working in Uganda, he asked me if I had ever enjoyed any period of happy life. I told him that I had actually suffered from a crisis on 10th May, 2008, just one day before the Wen Chuan Earthquake took place, when I shared the news with more than 200 students of mine and all my colleagues.On hearing this, he had a twist in his expression, looking like dumbfounded. Then he put on airs leaning backwards, and challenged me with one more prediction about China. I told him there would happen an economic crisis from 2015 to 2017, with the culmination in July, in 2016. "What are the results of the economic crisis?" he continued. "There will be a devaluation of RMB along with the stock market collapsing." I said, and added "It is the inheritance and property taxes that would deteriorate the crisis and even explode it."

Memory about Chinese medicine

It is great to study something that really happened in life. In my case, this is Chinese medicine. Once during my childhood, I kept coughing for a long time, which seemed to be more than a month. Even though my parents bought me syrup, the cough continued untill one day a colleague of Dad recommended us to eat steamed pears. Mom was shocked with the idea, but she prepared me with a steamed pear. It was hollowed out and filled with rock sugar and pepper. It tasted strange and almost disgusted me. Strangely, it healed my disease.  Now I am nearly fifty and studying Chinese medicine. I have found that there are more miracles than I could imagine.

The Chinese Hatred

How long can you hate someone? What do you do for your hatred toward someone? These were the questions I had bothered my colleagues with after a visit to Summer Palace, which was destroyed by the Eight-Power Allied Forces in 1900. My Chinese fellows answered "It depends."   It is slippery of the Chinese to say so, since they are always being roundabout. In my opinion, the Chinese can hate their own enemies for hundreds of years, and they build monuments, museums and even parks to remind themselves of the hatred. They hate the Hui-Hui moslems for the riots in the Qing dynasty, and they have called us THIEVES for more than a hundred years; they hate the Japanese for the invasion in WW II, and they have ever called them SMALL GHOSTS with lots of momuments, museums built to memorize the hate. Logically, the nickname of the Europeans is OVERSEA GHOSTS; the Africans, BLACK GHOSTS; the Indians, Number 3; the Koreans, CORN EARS.   The hate toward their enemies is leading the Chin

My prediction about the future in 2022

I do worry about the future of this world, wondering if there will be miracles. After the demonstration in Hongkong started a political suppression in 2019, and after the coronavirus spread across the globe, and after Russia invaded Ukraine, there seems another wars ready to happen. When they take place, in my opinion, there would be more tiny countries popping out around ours, especially in Asia. These countries would get rid of their old traditions as well as political systems, joining into federations like USA. They would speak languages as popular as English. They would adopt immigrants and refugees. Moreover, they would all respect human rights!
